I spent my entire school life in special education due to being autistic with additional learning difficulties. I went through many personal obstacles, but I was able to overcome them with my passion for learning and my fixation on all things films and video games.
Wanting to pursue my love for the media industry, I went to college before eventually making it to university not once, but twice, graduating with a BA and then an MA relating to film and television.
Like many people on the spectrum, I too had struggles finding employment despite my educational achievements. However, I managed to eventually create a career as a writer for several specialized websites, where I expressed my passion for films, television, video games, etc. These include Screen Rant, What Culture, and Skwigly Online Animation Magazine.
In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world and I, unfortunately, like many others, developed anxiety and low mood. Struggling with these new emotions and understanding them, I was thankful to have my outlet for writing to help me focus and express myself during a personally difficult time for me.
5 years have passed since then and I decided to create Nerdy Warren to help young neurodiverse people and those tackling their mental health obstacles through writing and creativity.
